About the Authors

This page was created as a result of a research paper written by Juan Acevedo and Jennifer McGilton for biology 181, an introductory biology course at the University of Arizona.

Juan Acevedo is currently a sophomore majoring in veterinary science. His aspirations include graduating with distinction from the University of Arizona with a bachelor's degree in veterinary science and earning a doctorate degree in veterinary science from Colorado State University. Juan intends to focus his attention on the study of large, exotic animals to provide the means for a career as a zoo veterinarian.

Juan is an active member in his community. He participates in AIDSWALK every year and is a member of Tucson Interfaith HIV/AIDS Network (TIHAN), an organization established to provide non-medical care and support to those persons living with or affected by AIDS. Juan is an active member in his church, First Evangelical Free Church and the Chair of Events for the University of Arizona's Bisexual, Gay and Lesbian Association (BGALA).

Jennifer McGilton is a junior majoring in German studies and molecular and cellular biology. Her goals at the moment are to graduate with honors by May of 1999 and to be accepted to a reputable graduate school. While unclear on her exact career target, Jennifer would like to do research in molecular biology and biochemistry.
