This study found that the ONYX-015
virus combined with chemotherapy reduced tumor size more effectively than either chemotherapy or adenovirus treatment alone!

Undesirable side effects of the combined therapy were much less severe than either treatment alone!

Although patients made antibodies capable of neutralizing adenovirus, the antibodies did not interfere with tumor killing by the virus!

The ONYX-015 virus seemed to enhance the effectiveness of chemotherapy!

The average survival time for the patients enrolled in this study increased from 6 months to 11 months with this combined treatment, allowing them another 5 months to live!  This means a lot to a terminal cancer patient!

Since mainly injected tumors regressed, all future patients will receive the ONYX-015 virus injected into each individual tumor.

Future trials could possibly include testing of ONYX-015 with other methods of chemotherapy or different techniques of administering the virus, such as through the bloodstream.
