A Few Words: Anne E. Cress, PhD, is Associate Dean for Research in the College of Medicine, University of Arizona and a Professor of Cell Biology and Anatomy, Radiation Oncology and Molecular and Cellular Biology and a member of the Cancer Biology Graduate Interdisciplinary Graduate Program. She has over 25 years of experience in the areas of cell and tumor biology and has made substantial contributions to the understanding of cellular responses to DNA damaging agents and the response of cells to environmental signals. Dr. Cress has authored over 100 original research articles and has served as a mentor to undergraduate and graduate students and postdoctoral fellows and junior faculty.

Fields of Study: Biochemistry, Management of Info. Systems, Computational Mathematics
Year: Sophomore
Contributions: Website Design, Introduction, Transcription Factors

A few words: As a returning student my experiences at the university have been both fascinating and diverse. I chose my fields of study due to a lifetime love of biology, oncology, and computational modeling. With many years of experience in software development and management of project teams my goal is to one day work with research labs in implementing systems and software to model genetic systems computationally, and to translate effects of genetic hybridization with mathematical modelling and large number theory. My other interests include finance, game theory, ecology, and media arts.

Fields of Study: Biochemistry and Molecular Biophysics & International Studies
Year: Freshman
Contributions: Liason, Project Leader, Cancer and Embryology

A few words: I am an undergraduate freshman in the College of Science at the University of Arizona. Originally from Delano, Minnesota (near Minneapolis) moving to Arizona has been a really fun adventure, and I have had many great experiences. I chose each of my majors because they will give me a strong base on which to transition to medical school when I graduate with my bachelors degrees.  I have a strong interest in becoming a surgeon in a hospital setting, but a side passion is international health, and i hope to go overseas in the next couple years to work on that issue.  I hope to graduate with two majors in the spring of 2009. My favorite lecture in Honors Biology has been Speaker - Dr. Scott Klewer Hope for Hearts: The Past, Present, and Future of Pediatric Cardiology.  My favorite class this semester has been Traditions and Cultures 101: Chinese Civilization-a real eye opener!

Fields of Study: Physiology, Pre-Med
Year: Senior
Contributions: Website Layout, Transcription Factors

A few words: I am a senior at the University of Arizona in the Physiology Department, in the School of Medicine. I am originally from Long Island New York, where I lived until 2001. I then attended Buffalo State College, and then the University of Buffalo in Buffalo New York, where I studied Biology. I am interested in pursuing a career in the Field of medicine, and I hope to attend the University's medical school. I enjoyed working on the website design because it gave me a greater prospective on what goes into making a website.
