Gene Silencing: The Future of Medicine?

Introduction

Welcome! This is a web site created by Biology 181 Honors students at the University of Arizona. It was constructed to assist in the understanding of the paper Duplexes of 21-nucleotide RNAs mediate RNA interference in cultured mammalian cells published in Nature (Vol. 411, 24 May 2001).

We have attempted to explain this complicated research paper in more understandable terms so that this information can be accessed and understood by a wider audience.

From all the members of Group 13, we hope you enjoy!

Thanks to our Mentor!

Dr. Roy Parker:

All of us in Group 13 would like to thank you for taking the time out of your day to help us understand our paper - especially agreeing to meet us at 7:30 in the morning! Your help has been phenomenal. This website would not have been possible without your patient advice.

Again, thank you!
