Welcome!

This website is a student project and was created to inform the general public and fellow scientists about a current topic in scientific research and its significance to furthering human knowledge. The topic that we'll discuss is "Sperm Selection After Mating," and it is based on the scientific paper "Directional postcopulatory sexual selection revealed by artificial insemination," published by Jonathan P. Evans, Lorenzo Zane, Samuela Francescato, and Andrea Pilastro. Details of the paper and its experiments have been simplified here for the understanding of a broader range of readers.

During your exploration of this website, you will learn what factors play a role in sexual selection before and after mating, how scientific research is carried out, and some of the terms and methods common to such research. So strap on your thinking caps, prepare some snacks, and enjoy your learning expedition!

This website was created by students at the University of Arizona for fulfillment of      Honors Introductory Biology (Ecol 181). The faculty mentor overseeing this project and offering professional advice was Dr. Bradley Worden, Dept. of Ecology and Evolutionary Biology at the University of Arizona.
