Welcome!

This website is a student project and our mentor is Dr. Dan Papaj, a professor in the Ecology and Evolutionary Biology department at the U of A. The website was designed to explore the complex sexual behaviors demonstrated by drosophila (the common fruit fly) as described in the paper: Fruitless Splicing Specifies Male Courtship Behavior in Drosophila by Ebru Demir and Barry J. Dickson. More specifically, the website as well as the above research paper investigate whether courtship behavior is chemically induced or simply an environmental stimulant.
