Welcome

This is a student project that was designed by a group of students from Honors Biology 181. The mentor for this group was Dr. Mark Riley. This website was created to help others better understand the paper Fabrication of Endothelialized Tube in Collagen Gel as Starting Point for Self-Developing Capillary-Like Network to Construct Three-Dimensional Organs In Vitro by Hiroyuki Ijima et al.

Why should you be interested in the fabrication of an endothelialized tube in collagen gel?

If an endothelialized tube can be created in collagen gel this could lead to the creation of a self-developing capillary-like network. This could be very useful because it could make it possible to grow organs in vitro. As of right now three-dimensional organs cannont be grown in vitro because there has been no way create a capillary-like network that will bring oxygen and all the other nutrients to the enitre organ.
