WELCOME!

This site was made by a group of Honors Biology students at the University of Arizona. The purpose of this site is to summarize and break down the article "Fitness, fatness, and estimated coronary heart disease risk: the HERITAGE Family Study," written by Peter T. Katzmarzyk, Jacques Gagnon, Arthur S. Leon, James S. Skinner, Jack H. Wilmore, D.C. Rao, and Claude Bouchard. The main purpose of this article is to determine how both fat content and fitness level affect the risk of coronary heart disease (CHD).

We will also provide pertinent information regarding aerobic exercise as well as cardiovascular diseases and how they are impacted by factors such as gender, race, and genetics. We'd also like to thank Dr. Scott Going, our mentor, for taking the time to help further our understanding of the paper. Enjoy!
