Introduction

Our group created this homepage for our Biology 181 Honors course with the specific purpose of explaining the journal article, "CFTR as a cAMP-Dependent Regulator of Sodium Channels," so that a person with a basic scientific background could understand the details of the article. The journal publication we were assigned documents a study which took a different approach to viewing the disease, cystic fibrosis, focusing attention upon the effect of sodium channel activity (i.e. sodium ion permeability) on the cell, instead of centering upon the more commonly studied chloride channel activity. In addition to explaining the article and showing results of the study, we have provided additional information on cystic fibrosis and current therapies for the disease so that our readers may attain a wider understanding of the significance of this important study, which brings us closer to finding a cure for this deadly disease.

Damn it.. I thought this was some kind of TV guide. Don't you guys have a life? Making web pages for science articles... HUH. I want to get out of here NOW !!!

YES!!! Just the thing I was looking for. I knew there was some connection between sodium and chloride channels and cystic fibrosis.
