AIDS Prevention
Facts about HIV:

* Approximately 30.6 million people worldwide are living with HIV/AIDS
* 16,000 more people become infected each day
* About 11.7 million people have died from AIDS since the epidemic was discovered
* In 1997 alone, 2.3 million people died from illnesses associated with HIV
* The predicted death toll for the year 2000 is estimated between 60 to 70 million adults

How anyone can protect themselves:

* The only way to completely avoid sexual exposure to HIV is to abstain from all sexual activity
* Always use latex condoms for anal or vaginal sex; žnatural skinÓ condoms may have tiny holes that viruses can pass through
* Always use a new condom every time
* Never share needles or if you do clean them with bleach 
* Never mix sex with drugs or if you do plan ahead for use of condoms
* Never oil-based lubricants such as Vaseline, hand cream, or mineral oil because they break latex condoms; Always look for water-based ones
